Biology Grade 9 (Federal Board)

The syllabus is divided into 9 fundamental units, with specific learning objectives for each:

1. Introduction to Biology: Understand the definition and major divisions of biology, levels of cellular organization, and the historical contributions of prominent Muslim scientists.
2. Solving a Biological Problem: Master the steps of the biological method, including biological problem recognition, observation, hypothesis formulation, experimentation, and data organization.
3. Biodiversity: Classify organisms into the Five-Kingdom system, understand the principles of binomial nomenclature, and recognize the significance of biodiversity and conservation, particularly for the flora and fauna of Pakistan.
4. Cells and Tissues: Differentiate between plant and animal cells, understand cell organelles (like the nucleus and mitochondria), and explore the levels of structural organization (tissues, organs, and organ systems).
5. Cell Cycle: Describe the phases of interphase and the processes of mitosis and meiosis, emphasizing their role in growth, repair, and reproduction.
6. Enzymes: Explain the nature, mechanism, and characteristics of enzymes, including factors that affect their rate of activity.
7. Bioenergetics: Comprehend the roles of ATP, chlorophyll, and the detailed chemical equations and stages of photosynthesis and aerobic/anaerobic respiration.
8. Nutrition: Analyze the concept of a balanced diet, the role of macro/micronutrients, and the human digestive system, including potential disorders like diarrhea or ulcers.
9. Transport: Explain the transport mechanisms in plants (water and food translocation) and the structure and function of the human circulatory system (the heart and components of blood).
