About this course

Cambridge IGCSE Physics (0625) builds scientific knowledge, practical skills, and an understanding of how physical theories develop, through core and extended content areas. Course objectives: - Knowledge and Understanding: Learn scientific phenomena, facts, laws, definitions, and concepts. - Problem Solving: Handle information, solve qualitative and quantitative problems, and translate data from one form to another. - Experimental Skills: Carry out safe practical work, record observations, analyze data, and evaluate experimental methods.

  4. Mass, weight, gravitational field strength, and Hooke's Law (springs)
  5. Forces, momentum, impulse, conservation of momentum
  6. Moments, equilibrium, energy stores, work, power, and efficiency
  7. Pressure in solids and liquids
  8. 2. Thermal Physics
  9. States of matter, molecular model, and kinetic theory
  10. Thermal energy transfers, conduction, convection, and radiation
  11. Temperature measurements and specific heat capacity
  12. 3. Waves
  13. General wave properties, reflection, refraction, and diffraction
  14. Sound waves and the electromagnetic spectrum
  15. 4. Electricity and Magnetism
  16. Magnetism, magnetic fields, and electrostatic charge
  17. Electric circuits, current, potential difference, resistance, and electrical power
  18. D.c. circuits and safety in household electricity
  19. 5. Nuclear Physics
  20. Atomic structure, nucleus, and isotopes
  21. Radioactivity, radioactive decay, and half-life
  22. 6. Space Physics (Extended and updated concepts)
  23. Earth, Moon, and the solar system
  24. Stars, the life cycle of stars, and the universe




Assessment Overview

Students can choose the Core syllabus (targeting grades C to G) or the Extended syllabus (targeting grades A* to C).

  1. Paper 1 / Paper 2 (Multiple Choice): 45 minutes, 40 questions (30% of total grade).
  2. Paper 3 / Paper 4 (Theory): 1 hour 15 minutes, structured and short-answer questions (50% of total grade).
  3. Paper 5 (Practical Test) or Paper 6 (Alternative to Practical): Hands-on experiment exam or theory-based practical assessment (20% of total grade).
